Ye Vagabonds is a folk music duo composed of brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn, originally from Carlow, Ireland. They gained recognition in 2014 when they were featured in the videos of music filmmaker Myles O’Reilly. After performing with Glen Hansard at the Electric Picnic festival in 2015, they were invited to open for him on his European tour. Their debut EP, Rose & Briar, was released in the same year.

Since then, they have been touring extensively throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe, opening for various artists such as Villagers, Roy Harper and Lisa Hannigan. They have played headline shows in France, Switzerland and the UK and made television and live radio appearances in Ireland.

In October 2017, they released their debut self-titled album, Ye Vagabonds, which was well-received. Their second album, The Hare’s Lament, was released in March 2019 and won several awards including the BBC Radio Two Folk Award for Best Traditional Track and Best Album at the RTÉ Radio One Folk Awards.

In January 2020, they released a two-track EP and went on to win Best Traditional Track and Best Folk Group at the 2021 RTÉ Radio One Folk Awards. Their third album, Nine Waves, was released on May 13th, 2022, and features 11 tracks of original and traditional songs and tunes. It was produced by John ‘Spud’ Murphy and recorded in the Dublin Mountains at Hellfire Studios.

The album features guest musicians such as Kate Ellis, Caimin Gilmore, Ryan Hargadon, Anna Mieke, Rachael Lavelle, Cormac Begley and Alain McFadden. Their brotherly harmonies and multi-instrumental abilities are showcased in the album, along with their unique blend of Irish traditional music, Appalachian singing, and the 1960’s folk revival. Ye Vagabonds continue to make a name for themselves in the folk music scene with their thoughtful lyrics, thickly layered strings and droning harmonium.
