
RTÉ Short Story Competition 2025
RTÉ is inviting entries for the 2025 RTÉ Short Story Competition, in honour of Francis MacManus.
The competition is open to writers aged 18 and over who are living in Ireland or are Irish citizens abroad. Submissions must be original short stories between 1,800 and 2,000 words, written in English or Irish. The deadline for entries is Friday 23 May 2025.
The winning entry will receive €5,000, with second and third prizes of €4,000 and €3,000. Seven additional shortlisted writers will receive €300 each. All ten shortlisted stories will be published on RTÉ Culture and broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1. This year’s judges are Neil Hegarty, Tristan Rosenstock, and Jan Carson.
