'Teach le Chéile' Gael Linn

Thursday, 28 May 2020, 6.00pm

Gael Linn began broadcasting a series of live videos on their Facebook page every Thursday at 6pm. The series is called ‘Teach le Chéile’, where we will visit well-known singers, musicians and storytellers. The series began on the 7th May and to date we have been in Cúil Aodha with renowned musician, Peadar Ó Riada, in Mín an Iolair with acclaimed sean-nós singer Máire Ní Choilm and in Cork with the well-known storyteller, Pádraig Ó Brian

This Thursday, 28th May, we are delighted to announce that Feargus Ó Casaide and his two sons, Maitiú and Stiofán will feature on this week’s episode. Originally from Gweedore, but now living in Ranelagh, ‘Na Casaidigh’ have become a household name since the mid-eighties as a group of traditional musicians. They play a variety of instruments, the uilleann pipes, the tin whistle, the bodhrán, the guitar, as well as vocals. The next generation of na Casaidigh have also developed their own reputation. Stiofán took part in Siansa Gael Linn 2016 and his group were successful in the competition. Maitiú was awarded the TG4 Young Musician of the Year Award in 2015 and has released highly-acclaimed albums with the groups ‘The Bonnymen’ and ‘Ré’.

Join us this Thursday, at 6pm, for the live broadcast of ‘Teach le Chéile’ with Na Casaidigh on the Gael Linn or Molscéal Facebook page. Keep an eye out for new episodes in the coming weeks. Musician, Caoimhín Ó Fearghail will be with us next week, 4th June, from his home in An Rinn, Co. Waterford and on the 11thJune we will be joined by sisters Étáin and Máire Ní Churraoin, also known as ‘An Chéad Ghlúin Eile’.
