First String Experience Fellows

First String Experience Fellows

Monday, 6 September 2021, 10.00am

The Royal Academy of Music seeks to offer a number of paid fellowships to support the teaching of upper and lower strings to small groups of 5 to 6 pupils within the Junior Academy’s First String Experience (FSE) course, as well as participating in other duties such as concerts, as required by the FSE Director.

The Fellows will also be responsible for delivering and assisting with the development of a new initiative, Community First Strings Experience (CFSE), which will take the FSE programme into two London based primary schools from September 2021 over a three-year period. The CFSE programme plans to work with 90 children in its first year, taking on a new cohort each September to 2023-24. By 2023-24, 270 children will be enrolled on CFSE, in addition to those learning at the Academy on Saturdays.

The successful applicants will provide expertise in the area of violin, viola or cello, integrated with musicianship teaching from the earliest stages of learning.
