Singing Session with Rosie Stewart

Singing Session with Rosie Stewart

Saturday, 20 February 2021, 8.30pm

Special guest Rosie Stewart features in the latest of our 2021 online traditional singing sessions, hosted on Zoom and streamed live online.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and necessary social distancing measures, we invite traditional singers to join a Zoom conference call to share songs from the comfort of ones own home anywhere in the world. The sessions will take place in monthly instalments, usually on the 3rd Saturday of the month and will feature songs 'from the floor' and from an invited guest singer.

Rosie Stewart’s love of traditional music was instilled from childhood by her father Packie McKeaney in their rural Fermanagh home. This love of singing has seen her travel the world, performing in Europe, Canada and the USA, as well as performing in our very own Phoenix Park for two different Presidents of Ireland over the years. Rosie is also a proud TG4 Amhranaí na Bliana winner, having won the award in 2004. This inherent grá for singing has culminated in recent years with the formation of ‘The McKeaney Sisters’ where Rosie is joined by four of her siblings to keep the Irish singing tradition alive. She is also a renowned tutor for young singers in her home County, ensuring that our songs and culture remain thriving in the future.

Our host is Macdara Yeates, a traditional singer, composer and producer from Dublin. Macdara is a founding member of The Night Before Larry Got Stretched, a collective of traditional singers running regular events, with a particular emphasis on the dissemination of traditional song among young people.

Those wishing to sing on the night will need a device with a camera and a Zoom account. Please register your details free at the Book Tickets link below (via Ticketsolve) and we will forward you all relevant details in time for the session. Please note that time is limited in each session and it may not be possible to get to everyone.

For those wishing to watch the session, the live stream will be on our YouTube Channel and our Facebook Pages.

In the meantime, stock up on your beverage of choice, dust off your songbook and we will see you then!
