BBC Philharmonic @ Festival of Research with the University of Salford

Tuesday, 2 July 2019, 2.30pm

Jack Sheen – Conductor

This afternoon – members of the BBC Philharmonic are joined by conductor Jack Sheen to perform new works by Alan E. Williams and Robert Laidlow. As part of the event, Alan will interview Robert about interacting with Artificial Intelligence tools to create his piece, and will also talk about his own piece which borrows material collaboratively developed with Key Stage 1 pupils in a Salford primary school, using an app developed by a Salford University researcher.

This concert is part of the University of Salford’s Festival of Research – a month-long programme showcasing the research being carried out across the University of Salford.

Now in its second year, the festival brings together academics, students, industry and the public to discuss and develop the future research strategy. At the heart of the festival is the Postgraduate Research flagship conference SPARC, where festival goers can enjoy performances, music, family friendly fun and opportunities to meet with students and staff, share research interests and experiences.

The Festival of Research will take place from 17 June to 12 July 2019. Find out more below.
