Chair, Acceptance in Lieu (AIL) Panel – Museums and Cultural Property

Arts Council England is seeking to appoint a new Chair of the Acceptance in Lieu (AIL) Panel.

Each year the AIL Panel oversees the allocation of a budget of £40 million in tax forgone to acquire objects for public collections through the AIL and Cultural Gifts schemes. These schemes bring objects of exceptional cultural importance into collections where they give lasting enjoyment and inspiration to all.

As Chair of the AIL Panel, you will play a significant role in shaping the nation’s collections and will influence the direction of the schemes at this moment of recovery and renewal. The Chair of the AIL Panel will share Art Council’s values and commitment to equity and inclusion.

This is a voluntary position for a fixed term of four years (with the possibility of reappointment for a second term)
