The National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain is hiring a Head of Safeguarding and Support.

The Head of Safeguarding and Support (HSS) will be responsible for the training and management of NCO’s Support Managers and Support Teams and will maintain a gold standard of safeguarding at NCO. They will play a key role in the development of NCO’s equality, diversity and inclusion strategies and will ensure that the organisation provides excellent support to young musicians and an essential focus on wellbeing and child voice.

The HSS will be required to undertake visits to residentials around the country, they will observe the support and pastoral care provided by NCO and will evaluate the team’s work after each course, ensuring that any training needs or gaps in knowledge are addressed to make sure the support team provide the highest quality pastoral care. The HSS will be jointly responsible to the Chief Executive and Artistic & Educational Director and will report annually to the Trustees and the Safeguarding Board.

They will be the main Designated Safeguarding Officer for the charity and the first contact for any safeguarding concerns. Significantly, the HSS will be the crucial contact for non-musical concerns from young musicians and work with the Communications Team to build a positive and supportive dialogue with parent/carers.
