National Symphony Orchestra RIAM Concerto Concert
National Symphony Orchestra and Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) are collaborating for the NSO Concerto Project, which offers emerging student-artists from RIAM an opportunity to showcase their talents in a professional setting. On Wednesday, 31st May 2023, at 7:30pm, the Main Stage will host the highly anticipated RIAM Concerto Concert, featuring four outstanding musicians accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra. The concert will be conducted by Gavin Maloney.
The evening will feature four impressive soloists: Lauren McCann (soprano), Emma Power (mezzo-soprano), Kalle Peura (piano), and Rachel Nolan (flute). These talented individuals, chosen from the Royal Irish Academy of Music, will be making their concerto debuts, performing renowned compositions from the classical repertoire. The selected works for the concert include Mozart’s Exsultate, jubilate, Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Ravel’s Shéhérazade, and Nielsen’s Concerto for Flute and Orchestra.
This collaborative initiative between the National Symphony Orchestra and RIAM aims to provide advanced-level students, ranging from final-year Bachelor of Music to Master in Music Performance and Recital Artist Diploma level, with an invaluable experience of performing alongside a professional orchestra. The NSO Concerto Project offers these emerging artists a platform to display their exceptional abilities and musical prowess.
