Journey Through Music

Journey Through Music

Saturday, 2 November 2019, 6.15pm

Composer Philip Grange chats to BBC Philharmonic violinist Julian Gregory about his Violin Concerto which receives its world premiere in the evening’s concert.

Find out how swarms of bees, clouds of bats and murmurations of starlings provided Philip with ideas for the sounds in his music.
Ask the composer a question about the music, his music writing process or the performance and listen to demonstrations and explanations of this BBC commission.

After the workshop, stay to hear international soloist, Carolin Widmann perform the world premiere of Philip Grange’s Violin Concerto, alongside other works by Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky, inspired by the natural world.
