From Europe with Love: Poland

Tuesday, 7 December 2021, 1.10pm

From Europe with Love is slowly coming to a close with just three concerts remaining in the series. Galway Music Residency’s ambitious monthly lunchtime series exploring string quartet repertoire from all 27 EU member countries continues with a musical visit to Poland on Tuesday 7th December at 1:10pm in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church.

ConTempo Quartet will perform music from three Polish composers offering a varied programme. Audiences will hear female composer Grazyna Bacewicz’s String Quartet No. 4, and movements from Karol Szymanovski’s String Quartet No. 1, and Witold Maliszewski’s String Quartet No. 2. The concert will be introduced by Joanna Zalech, founder and director of Irish Socksciety, who will give a personal reflection of the concert programme.

From Europe with Love will continue with repertoire from Lithuania and Finland in the new year, concluding in March 2022.

From Europe with Love will take place in line with government regulations and all Covid safety controls will be in place. As an additional precaution, capacity will be limited to 50 people. Covid Vaccine Certificates or proof of immunity must be presented to gain entry to these events. Early arrival is recommended to allow for check-in. Tickets are free and but must be reserved. The event will also be live streamed on Galway Music Residency's Facebook Page for those who wish to listen from home.
