Glyndebourne is currently recruiting for a Senior Sound & Video Technician to join the Lighting & AV department for this year’s festival. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality technical services to productions at Glyndebourne and any other venue where the company may perform. The role will provide lead coverage for sound and video duties in a busy repertory environment, with occasional lighting duties also required.

The ideal candidate should have significant previous experience working in sound or video in professional theatre, with a first-class technical knowledge and a passion for creating high-quality theatrical productions. Key responsibilities include leading on the preparation, rigging, focusing, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of sound and video equipment for productions, realising sound and video requirements for specific productions, ensuring that all productions and projects meet Glyndebourne’s sustainability targets from a sound and video perspective, and prioritising team workloads in a rapidly changing environment.

The Senior Sound & Video Technician will also work closely with other departments to facilitate sound and video requirements, lead on the archival recording & editing process, provide sound and video requirements for off-site events, assist with the maintenance & development of site-wide sound and video systems, and deputise for the Sound and Video Supervisor as required. The role requires working across 7 days, including unsocial hours, and any other duties as reasonably required.

Applicants must have significant previous experience working in sound or video in professional theatre, first-class technical knowledge with a passion for creating high-quality theatrical productions, and extensive knowledge of the use and maintenance of a range of professional sound and video equipment, including digital mixing consoles, analogue and digital sound and video monitoring systems, projection systems, networked audio, video and control systems and performance accessibility systems. Other essential requirements include experience with fault-finding complex systems, programming Qlab for complex productions, and a good knowledge of health and safety within a theatrical environment, among others.

Desirable skills and experience include working in large-scale repertory theatre or large-scale touring, creating video content, an understanding of technical developments within sound and video, and experience working with CAD systems in 2D and 3D, among others.
