Pious Faults and Triple Negative
PENULTIMATE PRESS presents two examples of what ‘rock’ can be today.
Pious Faults:
Now is the time to take notice of Brisbane, Australia’s PIOUS FAULTS. Pious Faults have remained somewhat of an enigma since their inception in late 2016. However, with “Old Thread”, the young Australian group have crafted a remarkably lucid and original vinyl debut. A sonic whirlwind of wonderfully deconstructed hardcore punk - songs stripped of inheritable form; leaping from stone to leaf to puddle in a unique, abstract manner. Promising new directions, recent live performances see the band moving into more sea-sick prog territory, as stark as it is shocking.
Triple Negative:
Madame Tlank & Clinical Wasteman & others. Bayern Tāmaki Makaurau/northsouth London, since 1989/2003/2016.
Vulnerable adults born in the wrong place, put out too tender & possessed by spite. There’s nothing not superficial about it: an animus nursed with bad bad grace. Absentee panelbeating (Tascam stand-ins), raised voices, knock-off Glock & cheap Vamvakaristic Spiel.
Incorporates Philosophie Queen (+microcosmically: THE MEAN STREAKS). May contain traces of Heliogabalus, $urp!u$, Aufgehoben & S.P.U.D.
