Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Seeking Scores for Composers' Day 2019

Composers can submit unperformed orchestral or ensemble works. Deadline is 14 November.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra has announced a call for orchestral or ensemble scores for its 2019 Composers’ Day. This is the fourth year of the event following Composer Days with Sir James MacMillan, Colin Matthews and Mark Anthony Turnage. Composers’ Day 2019 will feature workshops and talks led by composer Sally Beamish.

Works submitted must not have already received a professional performance or workshop, and must not be more than 8 minutes’ duration for orchestral scores, or 5 minutes for ensemble. The ensemble forces consist of 1 violin, 1 cello, 1 flute doubling piccolo, 1 clarinet doubling bass clarinet, 1 percussion player and 1 piano.

A selection of works submitted will be performed on 2 March 2019, with orchestral scores performed by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and ensemble scores performed by Kokoro, the BSO’s new music ensemble led by Mark Forkgen.

The full schedule for Composers’ Day will be announced in late October 2018. The deadline for submissions is 14 November, with the chosen works announced 14 December. See full details at www.bsolive.com.
