Linda Buckley Appointed Lecturer in Composition at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

Composer will take up new role in Glasgow in January 2018.

Irish composer Linda Buckley has been appointed as the new Lecturer in Composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Buckley previously taught composition at Trinity College Dublin’s Music and Media Technologies programme up until 2016, and on the MA in Scoring for Film and Visual Media at Pulse College. She was recently awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to travel to New York University to research found sound/electronic and cross-genre musical composition.

Based in Glasgow, Buckley will provide one-on-one tuition in composition. She will be joining fellow Irish composer David Fennessy who also lectures in composition at the RCS. Speaking to The Journal of Music, Buckley said that ‘she is excited to be in Glasgow, it’s a great city with a really good arts/music scene’.

Earlier this year the RCS was ranked third in the world for performing arts education by QS World Rankings, tied with the Royal Academy of Music.
