Hildur Guđnadóttir, Thomas Newman, Michael Giacchino, Alexandre Desplat and John Williams receive nominations.

The nominees for the 2020 British Academy Film Awards were announced today (7 January). In the nominees for Original Score are Thomas Newman for the Sam Mendes war film 1917; Michael Giacchino for Jojo Rabbit, Taika Waititi’s comedy-drama about a Hitler Youth member who finds out his mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a Jewish girl; Hildur Guđnadóttir for the psychological thriller Joker; Alexandre Desplat for the period drama Little Women by Greta Gerwig and starring Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Timothée Chalamet and Meryl Streep; and John Williams for the third instalment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
