Sam Lee Seeking Members for New Protest Choir

Fire Choir will focus on repertoire and performances that highlight social, political and environmental injustice.

Folk-singer Sam Lee is currently seeking new members for his Fire Choir, a community choir dedicated to songs of protest, social change and highlighting environmental injustice.

Lee describes the choir as ‘a vehicle to take rabble-rousing, soul-lifting chants and hollers to the streets, the auditoria, the recording studio and beyond.’

Fire Choir was launched in February 2018, a project of Lee’s Fellowship with the Foundling Museum in London.

The choir’s repertoire includes folk songs, modern songs, anti-war songs, songs of resistance and struggle, and songs of the natural world, love and lost worlds.

Newly commissioned Fire Choir repertoire has also been written, drawing attention to contemporary communities struggling for a louder voice in society. Writers include Dizraeli, Martha Tilston and Ayanna Witter-Johnson.

The spring term for the choir begins on Monday 14 January. For further information, visit http://thenestcollective.co.uk/shows/firechoir/
