Baroque violinist Rachel Podger in Cork

Rachel Podger will perform in the Aula Maxima, UCC, this Friday.

Presented as part of UCC Music Department’s Fuaim series, and in association with the East Cork Early Music Festival and Cork Orchestral Society, Baroque violinist Rachel Podger will perform solo this Friday, 5 October, at 1.10pm in the Aula Maxima, UCC. Admission is free.

A leading interpreter of the music of the Baroque and Classical periods, Podger will perform J.S. Bach’s Partita No. 2 in D and the second of Telemann’s 12 Fantasias for Solo Violin. Listen to Podger perform Fantasia No. 1 in B flat below. 

The East Cork Early Music Festival runs from 4 to 8 October and also features Podger performing with the Brecon Ensemble, a clavichord recital by Piere Goy, the ensemble Joglaresa, and Peter Whelan (bassoon) and Ensemble Marsayas.
