Weekend of musical collaboration takes place on 12–13 April.

The National Concert Hall (NCH) has announced ‘The Cruellest Month’, a weekend of musical collaborations and Irish debuts, taking place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 April. The event, part of the NCH’s Perspectives series, is curated by Sounds from a Safe Harbour and Brassland and features performances in a number of spaces within the Hall.

Artists appearing over the two days include Parisian-born folk and new-wave singer Mina Tindle, composer and musician Bryce Dessner (The National), singers Kate Stables (This Is the Kit) and Sam Amidon, pianist Thomas Bartlett and fiddler Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh of The Gloaming, as well as Crash Ensemble, Oisín Leech, Benjamin Lanz and the string quartet Quatuor Zaïde.

The programme begins on Saturday 12 April, when Tindle makes her NCH debut alongside Stables, Dessner, Lanz and Quatuor Zaïde in the main auditorium. The evening also features a rare performance by Bartlett and Ó Raghallaigh. That afternoon, Crash Ensemble will perform a new commission by composer and violinist Cashel Day-Lewis as well as Dessner’s Murder Ballades. Later that night, multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Lanz of The National will present a solo performance featuring material from his solo records and electroacoustic compositions.

On Sunday 13 April, the main stage will feature a triple-bill performance by Kate Stables, Sam Amidon, and Oisín Leech. Stables, known for her blend of folk and indie influences, will perform a selection of material from her six albums. Sam Amidon will present work from Salt River, his latest release. Joining them is Irish singer-songwriter Oisín Leech, whose debut solo album Cold Sea was released last year.
