€10,000 Deis Recording and Publication Award Now Open for Applications
The Deis Recording and Publication Award, which provides support of up to €10,000 to traditional music and song projects, is now open for applications.
The award, provided by the Arts Council, is for both traditional arts recordings and publications, and projects involving collaboration between the traditional arts and other artforms.
Suitable projects include those that are of a significant archival nature, or pertain to the music of a specific region or style; that assist in making the music of an exceptional performer or composer publicly available; that have a particularly innovative theme or original artistic format; or form part of an individual’s career development.
Proposals are accepted from any area of the traditional arts – music, song, dance, and oral artforms such as storytelling and agallamh beirte.
Previous receipients of the award include Caitlín and Ciarán by concertina/fiddle duet Caitlín Nic Gabhann and Ciarán Ó Maonaigh; fiddle-player Danny Diamond’s debut album, Fiddle Music; l’air du temps / the spirit of the times by David Bremner (organ) and Mark Redmond (uilleann pipes); and an album of Siabh Luachra music, Didn’t She Dance and Dance, by fiddle/accordion duet Aoife Ní Chaoimh and Paudie O’Connor;
