€150,000 Awarded to Irish Musicians Touring Abroad

Recipients of Culture Ireland funding include Saint Sister, Crash Ensemble, Hilary Woods and the Martin Hayes Quartet.

In its latest round of funding, Culture Ireland has awarded a total of €150,000 to Irish musicians and groups touring abroad this autumn and winter.

Among the recipients are Saint Sister, who will tour their forthcoming album Shape of Silence in the USA and Canada in September/October, and in the UK and Europe in November/December. The tours have received a total of €12,500 in funding. Shape of Silence will be released on 5 October. Read about Saint Sister at the All Together Now festival here.

Crash Ensemble have been awarded €10,000 for a performance at the Musica Nova festival in Helsinki in February 2019. Musica Nova is Finland’s largest contemporary music festival, curated by conductor André de Ridder. Read our review of Crash Ensemble’s 20th anniversary concerts here.

Singer Hilary Woods has received funding of €2,000 for an upcoming US/Canada tour of her recent album Colt (see our review here). The Martin Hayes Quartet have received funding of €4,000 for their debut US tour this October. See our album review here.

Funding was also awarded to The Young Folk, the International Uilleann Piping Day, the Aoife Scott Band, Sun Collective, Clang Sayne, AERIE and more.
