First Release from Ensemble Records, Conor Walsh's 'The Front', Launched This Month

Mayo pianist and composer's EP will be launched with performance at Unitarian Church.

Following Ensemble’s announcement that it was establishing a new label, Ensemble Records will launch its first release – minimalist/electronic pianist Conor Walsh’s EP The Front – at the Unitarian Church, Dublin, on 31 October.

Walsh, from Swinford, Co. Mayo, has been performing, composing and crafting his sound for several years, but this is his first release also.

His compositions draw from a variety of genres and have been likened to the music of Hauschka, Aphex Twin, Nils Frahm and Philip Glass.

Walsh has performed at Electric Picnic, Body and Soul and Other Voices in Dingle and Derry, having won the online competition to perform in the IMRO OtherRoom at Other Voices Derry in 2014. He also appeared on 2015 series of TG4’s Ceol ar an Imeall, and opened for Hozier on a tour in Waterford, Cork and Limerick in 2013.

His music has been used in RTÉ’s Prime Time, and on Radio One, TV3 and Raidió na Gaeltachta documentaries as well as the short film Analogue People in a Digital Age from Twopair films. He has recently finished scoring his first short film Testimony, directed by Kamila Dydyna.
