Selected artists to receive airplay and promotional opportunities in addition to €1,000 bursary.

RTÉ 2FM has announced the ten artists selected for this year’s 2FM Rising programme. The artist development project, which promotes emerging Irish artists across a range of genres, provides dedicated radio airplay as well as promotional and performance opportunities. The participants also receive a €1,000 bursary from IMRO

This year’s selected artists include indie-pop duo 49th & Main; songwriter and producer Brendan McGlynn’s solo project Aonair; pop singer-songwriter April; Dublin producer Jen Payne; alt-rap artist KhakiKid, Dundalk neo-soul act Negro Impacto; pop singer-songwriter Ryan Mack; indie-pop band Still Blue; R&B artist Sweet Lemondae; and singer-songwriter Winnie Ama from Northern Ireland.

This week (16–20 January) is Rising Week on 2FM, which will see the station playing their music and broadcasting interviews with the musicians.

‘Rising is an important initiative for us at the station in our support of Irish music and artists,’ said 2FM Director of Music Adam Fogarty.

We believe our Rising list for 2023 is a great example of how strong and diverse the Irish music scene is right now and we feel our listeners will be as excited as we are about the quality of talent coming through and the incredible music they are making.

Previous participants in the 2FM Rising programme include Fontaines D.C., Denise Chaila, Dermot Kennedy, Jafaris, Lyra, Pillow Queens, Wild Youth, THUMPER, The Murder Capital, For Those I Love, Monjola and Gemma Dunleavy.
