Music Generation Appoints Development Officers in Leitrim and Waterford

Thérèse McCartin and Shauna McCullough to develop music education services in the two counties.

Music Generation has announced the appointments of Thérèse McCartin and Shauna McCullough to the positions of Development Officers in Leitrim and Waterford respectively.

They will have responsibility for developing music education programmes for children aged up to 18, including the coordination of tuition services and working with schools and community groups in the formation of choirs and ensembles.

Thérèse McCartin is harpist, singer and composer and is a teacher of music to primary schools and early years. She is currently undertaking an MA in Early Years Music Education. In 2003, she established the Cavan Academy of Music.

Shauna McCullough holds an MA in Music Education from Mary Immaculate College, and spent five years as lead brass tutor with Music Generation Cork City. She performs with orchestras and ensemble, including the Irish Symphony Wind Orchestra, and previously held a position in the Irish Defence Forces as trumpet player.

Leitrim and Waterford are two of the nine areas selected for expansion over the next five years, following a call for applications in 2017.
