The RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards 2019 are seeking nominations for the Best Emerging Artist category.

Artists are asked to submit one piece of music and a description to folkawards [at] rte.ie with ‘Best Emerging Artist’ in the subject line. Members of the public can also submit a nomination on behalf of an artist. The deadline is midnight on Sunday 28 July. All submissions will be collated and considered by the award judges.

The RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards take place at Dublin’s Vicar Street on 24 October presented by Ruth Smith and John Creedon. Commenting on the call for nominations, Smith, who presents Simply Folk on RTÉ Radio 1, said:

With 3 months to go to this year’s RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards we’re asking all folk music lovers to help us cast our net far and wide to gather all the new talent out there for the category of Best Emerging Folk Act. 

The winner of last year’s Emerging Artist category was Emma Langford.
