Taskforce on Arts and Culture to Issue Action-plan by 31 October

Former managing director of RTÉ Radio Clare Duignan to chair taskforce; full membership yet to be announced.

Minister for Arts Catherine Martin has announced (10 September) that former managing director of RTÉ Radio Clare Duignan will chair the new taskforce on arts and culture. The taskforce has been asked to issue an action plan for the sector by 31 October 2020.

The members will be drawn from across government departments and state bodies, including the Minister’s department, the Department of Health, and the Department of Social Protection. There will also be representation from the Arts Council and representatives of culture and the arts including theatre and live music. The Department of Arts said yesterday that the full membership will be announced shortly.

The terms for reference for the taskforce state that it should 'adopt a solution-focused approach', 'identify possible policy initiatives or impediments to a robust sustainable recovery in the sector', and 'recommend whole of Government policy initiatives and actions to support the sector.'
