TG4 Gradam Ceoil Seeking Nominations for Outstanding Contribution Award

TG4 Gradam Ceoil Seeking Nominations for Outstanding Contribution Award

Deadline for nominations is 7 February 2023.

TG4 has announced that it is seeking nominations for An Gradam Comaoine/The Outstanding Contribution Award for this year’s Gradam Ceoil.

The award was previously chosen by an awards panel, but this year it will be selected by a combination of public nomination and panel selection.

An Gradam Comaoine was first presented in 2006 to pay tribute to those who have worked to ensure the preservation and dissemination of Irish traditional music. Among the previous recipients are Ciarán Mac Mathúna, Harry Bradshaw, Muiris Ó Rócháin, Micheál Ó Súilleabháin, Mick Moloney, Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin, Mick O’Connor, Eithne and Brian Vallely, Cairde na Cruite, Na Píobairí Uilleann, and the Irish Traditional Music Archive.

The broadcaster is inviting nominations from the public for a person – or people – who should receive recognition for their contribution to the traditional arts. This contribution might be their work as teachers, researchers, writers, event organisers, mentors, producers, community activists or supporters of music, song and dance. The nomination can be an individual, organisation, community project or a specific project, and nominees can reside in or outside of Ireland.

The closing date for nominations is 7 February 2023. A shortlist of six nominees will be chosen by the Gradam Ceoil selection committee and the final recipient will be chosen by the panel and announced in March.
