Update on Live Music Guidelines

Update on Live Music Guidelines

Latest information on live music events indoors and nightclubs.

Updated: 6 December 2021, 11.30am

The Government has issued a statement with revised restrictions for live music events due to Covid-19.

From Tuesday 7 December, there will be a maximum capacity of 50% permitted at indoor entertainment, cultural, community and sporting events. The events must also be fully seated.

As before, face masks need to be worn at all times and a Covid vaccination pass is required.

Nightclubs are not permitted to open.

There will be no change to outdoor gatherings, which means that the guidelines of 22 October still stand, i.e. no capacity limits.

These restrictions will be in place until 9 January 2022.

Please check social media updates from promoters, venues and artists for the latest on upcoming events.

Supports
Minister for Arts Catherine Martin has stated that due to the latest Government announcement an extra €25m will be made available to support the live entertainment sector, on top of the €25m announced as part of the Budget in October. The additional €25m will be used to support venues, producers, promoters, artists, crews and nightclubs. Further details are available here.

There will also be a limited reopening of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment for workers who have been temporarily laid off due to the impact of the new restrictions.
