Acts for Galway Arts Festival Announced

The music programme for this year’s Galway Arts Festival has been announced, with events running from 15 to 28 July. The festival bill includes over twenty-nine events, with international artists such as Grizzly Bear and Josh Ritter as well as Irish musicians such as Imelda May and Frankie Gavin performing.

Events range from small-scale, intimate concerts, including Heathers, Jerry Fish and Matthew E White at the Roisín Dubh, to larger events held in the Big Top. The RTÉ Concert Orchestra will perform an all-standing ‘proms’ concert in the Big Top, with a selection of film music on the programme.

Dublin’s monthly eclectic music night Kaleidoscope will host two events in the festival, with a late-night show at the Absolute Festival Gallery, and an evening performance in the Augustinian Church. The festival will also include a concert performance of Julie Feeney’s new opera, Bird.

A range of traditional music performances, held mostly in Monroe’s and the Radisson Hotel, include fiddle players Toner Quinn and Malachy Bourke as well as Niall Vallely with Seán Óg Graham, among many others.
