The Contemporary Music Centre is presenting two linked contemporary music events in County Sligo in May. The Art of Sound is a multimedia exhibition originally devised in tandem with the music department of University College Cork that runs from 1 to 31 May in Ballymote Community Library in Sligo.

The exhibition attempts to illustrate the creative process from inspiration to realisation, and uses photographs by Eugene Langan and an audio guide by RTÉ Lyric FM’s Eamon Lawlor in doing so. The exhibition features music by, amongst others, Gerald Barry, Mícheál Ó’Súilleabháin, Seán Ó’Riada, Jennifer Walshe, Seóirse Bodley, Barry Guy, Stephen Gardner and Judith Ring.

A New Music Literary Trail will run during the Music in Drumcliffe Festival from 5 to 7 May. It features music by composers Brian Boydell, Rhona Clarke and Donnacha Dennehy, and will take place in the grounds of St Columba’s Church, Drumcliffe.

Admission is free to both the exhibition and the trail.
