A Call to Sing

The Kilkenny Arts Festival has sent out an open invitation for singers to take part in its Festival Choir.

The 2012 Kilkenny Arts Festival will build on the success of last year’s choral programme with another open call to amateur singers to take part in its Festival Choir. Last year the special event, with soloists Michael O’Toole, Aileen Atani, Bridget Knowles, James Edwards and Graeme Danby, and conducted by Fergus Sheil, saw one hundred amateur singers perform Vaughan Williams, Rodrigo, and Mozart’s Requiem K626.

This year’s programme will focus on Beethoven’s Mass in C, which will be workshopped and rehearsed in the week leading up to the final event. The cost of participating in the event is €70, which covers the purchase of music, a practice CD and administration costs. Participants will also be entitled to a reduction in prices to other festival events. Application forms can be downloaded here.
