Camerata Ireland in Russia and Finland

The Irish chamber orchestra Camerata Ireland is touring to Russia and Finland this week, with performances in Moscow, St Petersburg and at the Naantali Festival in southern Finland. The orchestra will be performing various programmes, including Krzysztof Penderecki’s Sextet and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major.

‘I am delighted to be taking Camerata Ireland to Moscow for the first time and to have the opportunity to show audiences there the sheer wealth of musical talent we have on the island of Ireland,’ said Barry Douglas. ‘With my own long established relationship since winning the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow in 1986, I am excited to be establishing this new link between Camerata Ireland and Russia.’

Later in the summer Camerata Ireland will be performing its first BBC Prom (10 August), and the orchestra will also play at the Kilkenny Arts Festival the following day (11 August). The orchestra’s annual festival takes place in Clandeboye, County Down, from 19 to 24 August.
