RTÉ Lyric FM will air ‘Piano Portrait - Fanny Robinson’, a documentary about pianist, teacher, and composer Fanny Robinson, on Friday 31 August, between 7.00pm and 8.00pm.

Robinson was a notable nineteenth century Irish musical figure, who held the first ever female professorship in piano at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, and who has also been credited with introducing the Lisztian model of solo piano recitals to Ireland.

Contributors to the documentary include Robinson’s biographer, Jennifer O’Connor, the Director of the Royal Irish Academy, Deborah Kelleher, and the Academy’s librarian, Philip Shields. Robinson’s music will be performed by Una Hunt, who also presents and produces the show.

The programme can be listened to live by following the ‘listen live’ link here, where it will also be available in the Lyric Feature archive thereafter.
