Launch of Our New Listings Service

A free service for musicians, audiences and concert and festival organisers.

This week we launch the beta version of a new music listings service on The Journal of Music. This is a free service that will allow anyone to upload details of their musical events and opportunities. To view the listings, please visit journalofmusic.com/listings

The listings service is a result of our belief in presenting as full a picture as possible of the diversity of contemporary musical life. With a listings system that is open to musical events and opportunities across all genres — from workshops to concerts, festivals to sessions, and jobs to competitions — we aim to gradually build up a rich and stimulating picture of what musical life means in the twenty-first century.

Our ultimate goal is that this new feature will strengthen musical life at this particularly challenging time for the artistic community, help artists grow their audiences, assist audiences in easily accessing the range of musical events taking place around them, and allow the broader music community of organisers and promoters to be well informed about what else is taking place.

In the coming months, we will be further developing the capabilities of the system, including adding additional categories — such as books and recordings — and improved filtering options.

At this early stage we are doing some closed testing, but would invite you to contact editor [at] journalofmusic.com for a username and password if you would like to add your listings. We are committed to developing a fast and easy-to-use system and would welcome your feedback.
