New Music::New Ireland Salon Series
The Contemporary Music Centre’s new music::new Ireland salon series, which attempts to engage audiences with new Irish composition in a relatively informal setting, will begin its 2012 edition at 6pm on 29 February in the Kevin Barry Room of the National Concert Hall.
The opening concert will feature Dave Flynn on guitar and Aoife Ní Bhriain on violin. The duo will perform three Irish premieres—Eric Sweeney’s Comhra (rewritten for violin and guitar), Jerome de Bromhead’s Augury and Dave Flynn’s Quirk No. 6 (a) - Toccata for Obama—and one world premiere, a rewrite of Alyson Barber’s Drone for violin and guitar.
The salon series will continue on the last Wednesday of every month throughout the year, with the exception of June, July and August. Admission is free to all concerts, but advance booking is highly recommended.
