New Series of Geantraí Starts on TG4

The opening programme in the new Geantraí series comes from P.J. O’Hares’ Pub in Carlingford, Co Louth, and is presented by fiddle-player Dónal O’Connor. Among the guests on the night are At First Light, Zӧe Conway and singer Pádraigín Ní Uallachain, Stevie Dunne and Michael McCague, and Síoda.

The second programme of the series, on 24 February, will be hosted by Daithí Kearney and will include musicians Cormac de Frein and Pat Shortt (in whose bar it was filmed), John Cronin, Mike Hanrahan, Nigel Grufferty and Niall Vallely, and Caoimhín Ó Fearghail.

The programme on 3 March will be hosted by Freda Hatton and include musicians Kenneth Hatton, Camillus Hiney and Dave Sheridan, Enda Seery and John Byrne, Brendan Doyle, John Duffy and Noel Carberry.

The fourth programme will be hosted by Liam O’Connor and will include performances from Mick O’Brien and Aoife Ní Bhriain, as well the O’Connor Family with John Blake.

Other musician-presenters in the series are fiddle player Michael Harrison, flute player Joe Byrne, fiddle player Dónall Donnelly, concertina and harp player Holly Geraghty, singer Seán Tyrell and fiddle player Ronan O’Flatherty.

The programme is aired on Sunday nights at 10pm and repeated Friday nights at 8pm.
