Premiere of Linda Buckley's Surge

The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra premiere Linda Buckley's piece 'Surge' at a free lunchtime concert in Dublin.

The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra will premiere Linda Buckley’s latest work, Surge, at a free lunchtime concert at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, on Tuesday, 24 July. The concert, which starts at 1.05pm, and which forms part of the orchestra’s summer lunchtime series, will also include music by Debussy and Rossini, conducted by Lancelot Fuhry, with clarinet soloist Macdara Ó Seireadáin.

Buckley, from County Cork but now based in Dublin, is currently the RTÉ Lyric FM Composer-in-Residence. Described as ‘propulsive, rhythmically-charged and energetic’, Surge contrasts with her last orchestral work, chiyo, which was premiered by the same orchestra last year, and which was a much calmer work. See our short film about Buckley and chiyo below.
