Tinney and Leonard Tour of Ireland

Hugh Tinney and Catherine Leonard

Tinney and Leonard Tour of Ireland

Having started their Irish tour in Westport last Sunday, the pianist Hugh Tinney and the violinist Catherine Leonard continue on to St Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick, on Tuesday, 16 October; St Mary’s Church, Clonmel, on Wednesday, 17 October; and the Curtis Auditorium at CIT Cork School of Music, Cork, Thursday, 18 October. All performances begin at 8pm.

The duo are performing a programme based around two of Beethoven’s violin and piano sonatas — the ‘Kreuzer’ sonata in A Major, and the Sonata in A Major, No. 6 Op. 30. Also on the programme are Ravel’s Sonata in G Major and Parthenia Violata by the Irish composer Raymond Deane.

The programme forms part of the the duo’s ambition to perform all of the Beethoven violin and piano sonatas over a three year period. Tinney and Leonard have been playing together since 2000, and will perform the complete sonatas at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, and the Wigmore Hall, London, in early 2013.
