Two Bonny Men Gigs Coming Up

Young Dublin band, the Bonny Men, are playing the Workman’s Club, Wellington Quay on St Patrick's Day, and the Liffey Banks Sessions’ last gig in the Grand Social on 22 March.

Young Dublin band, the Bonny Men, are playing the Workman’s Club, Wellington Quay on St Patrick’s Day, and on 22 March the Liffey Banks Sessions’ last gig in the Grand Social.

Only having emerged in 2011 via the shortlist of the Recorded Artists Actors Performers/RTÉ Radio Breakthrough bursary competition, the Bonny Men have already recorded an album and received a good deal of attention. The band is made of up Barry Lyons on guitar; his brother Conor, twice winner of the World Championships, on bodhrán; Maitiú Ó Casaide (Oireachtas winner) on uilleann pipes; his younger sister Natalie on piano; All-Ireland champion Moss Landman on flute; Turlough Chambers on fiddle; Adam Whelan on bouzouki; and Íde Nic Mhathúna lead vocalist.

Meanwhile, Conor Byrne will be hosting future Liffey Banks Sessions over in the Button Factory on the opposite side of the river, and has Kevin Burke and Tim O’Brien lined up for April, and Mike McGoldrick and John Doyle for May.
