The Galway Cello, is a unique instrument, fashioned by luthier Kuros Torkzadeh for the cello festival Cellissimo from woods mainly grown in Co. Galway. Its most distinguished feature is the emblematic Claddagh Ring on its scroll, making it unmistakably Galway.

The current Cellissimo Ambassador Catherine Cotter (Instagram: @the_cello_ambassador) has had this wonderful instrument on loan since the summer of 2021. With this instrument she made the transition from the Royal Irish Academy of Music to becoming a student at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Her Ambassador role has giver her the opportunity to perform on numerous occasions from MfG season launches to its 40th Anniversary Gala Concert and she has appeared on stage, taking about the experience as well as on the RTÉ SIX ONE news.

With Cellissimo 2024 her term as ambassador comes to an end and it will be time for her to pass the Galway Cello on to the next Cellissimo Ambassador.
