Mornington Singers to Perform Frank Martin Mass

The Dublin choir Mornington Singers will perform the Swiss composer Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir in a concert at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, on Saturday, 24 November at 8pm. We found a recording of the Berlin-based RIAS Kammerchor performing the work, which was written in the early 1920s when the composer was in his early thirties.

Martin himself referred to the work as a ‘youthful sin’ and withheld it from publication for many years, but it has since entered the canon of large-scale works for unaccompanied choir.

Also on the Mornington Singers programme, titled Pillars of Heaven, is a series of latin motets by Thomas Tallis.
