Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, pianist and composer, presents an evening celebrating the music of Turlough O’Carolan. The concert features a new series of suites for solo piano edited from the eighteenth century Irish harp music of Turlough O’ Carolan (1670 – 1738). Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin brings a vital new energy and an informed historical perspective to this quintessentially Irish music.
Clonmel born pianist and composer, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, is indelibly linked with the growth of interest in Irish traditional music in recent times and his interpretation of traditional music arranged for piano has been influential and popular. Having studied under Seán
Ó Riada in University College Cork, Micheál went on to establish the first undergraduate music course in Traditional Music in UCC before moving to the University of Limerick where he was instrumental in the establishment and success of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance and where he held the Professorship of Music.

Zoë Conway effortlessly combines a background steeped in Ireland’s rich aural music tradition with a strong founding in classical music. She has toured worldwide and has appeared in many prestigious concert halls including Carnegie Hall, New York, The Kremlin Palace, Moscow and The National Concert Hall, Dublin. Together, Zoë Conway and John Mc Intyre have been described as “simply one of the best folk duos on the planet” (BBC), delighting audiences in Ireland and beyond.
