MA Community Music

Friday, 31 May 2019, 11.55pm

The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick is currently accepting applications for its MA Community Music. The initial deadline is 31 May 2019.

The MA Community Music (one year, full-time) combines research and practice to develop community music facilitation. Combined with practical music skills, participants in the programme examine issues around arts management and policy, the historical context of community music-making in Ireland and abroad, and undertake independent study on a topic of their choice.

The course is directed by singer, vocal tutor and community musician Dr Kathleen Turner – recently announced as the recipient of the 2017/2018 Jerome Hynes fellowship in arts leadership – and past students of the course have gone on to become music tutors, music facilitators at care facilities, and directors of community music initiatives.
