Ralph McTell – Live In 2014
The Celtic Cousins Tour Comes to The Helix
McTell hints at possible retirement – as he goes in search of his Celtic Cousins
“it seems the time is right to begin to take a more gentle approach to ultimately rewarding, yet exhausting process of touring.” – Ralph McTell.
Whilst continuing to release, some of the finest work of his career to date – Ralph McTell’s current studio album, Sofa Noodling” – confirms McTell as one of the UK’s finest and most respected acoustic guitar players still on the circuit today, whilst, Somewhere Down The Road, Ralph’s most recent collection of self penned songs, reminds us all why he is one of the best loved singer song writers, still performing and writing today. With a back catalogue of over 300 songs, and an album & single discography that spans an on-going career of over 50 years, Ralph is now embarking on – what looks like it could be his last extensive UK/ Ireland tour.
Now approaching his 70th Birthday, and with 2014 set to be one of the most exciting to date:, Ralph plays at The Helix, DCU, Collins Avenue, Glasnevin, Dublin 9 Friday 9th May, 8pm. Tickets are €26, €22 (concession) and available to purchase from The Helix box office on 01 700 7000 or www.thehelix.ie Ralph McTell has lived and performed music for over 50 years as a professional musician, though his love affair with the music goes even further back. Shaped artistically by the poetry of Bob Dylan, the spirit of Woody Guthrie and the music of the Mississippi Delta, McTell developed a style that has continued to defy easy categorisation. Delicate melodies, compelling stories; songs that seem at first ‘easy on the ear’ permeate the very soul of the listener, encouraging, provoking and at times, challenging.
