Original & Traditional Bluegrass from the Crooked Road of Virginia, USA

Mike Mitchell and his band visit us from Floyd on the musical Crooked Road of rural Floyd County of Virginia, bringing with them a highenergy show full of chart-topping bluegrass and fiddle tunes. A singer, songwriter, fiddler, bandleader and educator (Mitchell and his family run the Floyd Music School), Mitchell credits his biggest influences as the bluegrass sounds of the 70’s, namely J.D. Crowe and The New South, Tony Rice, and Sam Bush. With his effortless vocals, distinctive songwriting, and instrumental prowess, he continues to capture audiences and carve out his own place in contemporary bluegrass.

His latest project, 2023’s “Fathers & Sons”, has charted three singles in the Top 10. His current success is the culmination of a lifelong musical journey; he started Suzuki method violin lessons at age four, had a stint in music school at Youngstown State, and played in folk and rock bands through the ’90’s before taking a serious dive into bluegrass music around 2005. He has never looked back. Mitchell has been fortunate to record and perform with some of the world’s finest and most accomplished musicians; having cut records with the likes of Mark Schatz, Wyatt Rice, Sammy Shelor, Jarrod Walker and Jesse Brock, he knows how high the bar is set in top-level Bluegrass music and strives to reach those standards on every cut and at every show.
