Dublin’s CEO Experiment and acclaimed saxophonist Michael Buckley will join forces with one of the most unique voices in the contemporary Jazz world; Kurt Rosenwinkel, for a one-off performance at The Sugar Club, Dublin on Saturday 30th September. A guitarist who has evolved the language jazz guitar in a way no other has before him, Rosenwinkel is internationally recognised as “one of the most important jazz guitarists in the game for the last quarter-century” (Ron Hart, The Observer)

Kurt and Michael Buckley have collaborated on previous occasions, and thanks to mutual friend Kyle Crane, the conversation between Kurt, Michael and CEO evolved into an agreement to join forces for this special show in Dublin to perform each others music in this exciting collaboration uniting three professional musicians from Venezuela, Hungary and Peru with two jazz legends from Ireland and USA. This is the first time that Kurt Rosenwinkel will be playing The Sugar Club and his only Irish date for 2017.

“Kurt Rosenwinkel has already scaled dizzying heights as the undisputed heavyweight of modern jazz guitar, a fresh and original voice in a crowded field who has influenced practically every six-stringer to come after him.” – Cormac Larkin, The Irish Times

Rosenwinkel’s career began in the 1990s, and since then he has created 13 albums and collaborated with many diverse and extraordinary musicians, including Q-Tip, Brad Mehldau, Brian Blade, Mark Turner, Joshua Redman, Chris Potter. Known for his unique style and creative approach to playing guitar. “He sets trends among his peers with ideas about harmony and form, and he’s created an easily recognizable playing style on an instrument where individuality is rare in mainstream jazz.”(Patrick Jarenwattananon, NPR Music).

Improvisational piano trio CEO Experiment’s authentic style merges traditional Jazz with contemporary funk and fusion melodies. Together pianist Leopoldo Osio, electric bassist Peter Erdei, drummer Cote Calmet, with the recent addition of world-class saxophonist Michael Buckley, make an exceptional collective of musicians, presenting music which is modern and innovative, but also deep and vivid. Elements of Post-bop and Contemporary Jazz are channeled through original compositions and reworking of traditional standards, serving as a vehicle for high energy inter playing.

“Pianist Leopoldo Osio, electric bassist Peter Erdei and drummer Cote Calmet, who make up CEO Experiment, are three of the most outstanding exponents of their respective instruments in a city whose burgeoning jazz/improvised music scene punches well above its weight.” – All About Jazz
