Dublin Sound Lab is currently seeking submissions from composers for the opportunity to premiere a new work at the Music Current Festival in Dublin, scheduled for April 2025. This invitation extends to compositions for various ensembles, including flute, clarinet/bass clarinet, violin, cello, MIDI keyboard, electric guitar, electronics, or video, without the need for a conductor. The organisation is keen on proposals that critically engage with technology, media, or collaborative performance.

The successful applicant will receive an award of €4,000 and will collaborate closely with Dublin Sound Lab in the lead-up to the festival in April 2025. The commissioned composer may also have the opportunity to deliver public presentations on their work and participate in outreach, mentoring, or professional development programmes alongside festival partners.

Applications should include contact information, a biography, compositional examples, and a brief description of the proposed work. Interested parties can apply through a specified online form by the deadline of 11:59pm (GMT) on Friday, 29 March 2024, with selections to be announced by Friday, 31 May 2024.
