Join us for this special American Independence Day celebration in aid of Pieta House. The Tacoma Concert Band from Washington, USA, will join forces with the Artane Senior Band for a special night of Irish-American song and culture.

Conductors: Ronan O'Reilly, Robert Musser

Tacoma Concert Band

Founded in 1981 by its Conductor and Music Director Robert Musser, the band enjoys a regional, national and international reputation. The band performs an eclectic blend of musical styles ranging from Bach to Broadway and Strauss to Sousa, with its roots in the tradition of the finest European and American bands and extending through to new music commissioned especially for the band. Under the direction of Maestro Robert Musser the band has received many awards, including the prestigious Sudler Scroll of the John Philip Sousa Foundation, a national award for community bands of outstanding quality.

Artane Senior Band

The Artane Senior Band was formed in 1988 to provide opportunities for past members of the Artane Band to meet and continue to play together in a formal capacity. Two years previously, past pupils of the Artane Band had been invited to play at the centenary celebrations of the bands association with the GAA. This had been a tremendous success with over 300 musicians taking to the field in Croke Park. Twenty-six years later, under the baton of the Director of the Artane School of Music, Ronan O'Reilly, the Artane Senior Band regularly plays at concerts, festivals and events all over the country. The band now sees graduates of the Artane School of Music among its members and is firmly established as a premier concert and marching band of the highest calibre.
