Sounding Seams is a playful exploration of Pythagoras' 'music of the spheres' hypothesis, and its ensuing themes of order, chaos, wonder, and our place in the cosmos, viewed through the prism of metal forgery, heritage and sound.

This mini documentary follows Laura Hyland's metal sound sculpture project from its inception in 2018 when Laura was invited by the Irish National Heritage Park in her home town of Wexford to respond to the ancient art of metal forgery.

Taking inspiration from Pythagoras' legendary encounter with a blacksmith circa 600bce, and his ensuing vision of a musical cosmos, Laura took a deep-dive into cosmic esoterica and the harmonic series, and resurfaced with three live performances exploring this myth, via a sound installation comprising some 40-odd DIY chimes in 2018, a giant permanent chime sculpture she made for the park in 2019, and a residency with her band, Clang Sayne at the park in 2022, during which they recorded four songs for the Sounding Seams EP, due for release on June 6th, 2024.
