8th Annual Conference of the Society for Music Education in Ireland

Venue: Royal Irish Academy of Music

Dates: 2-3 November 2018

CALL FOR PAPERS, POSTERS, WORKSHOPS, SYMPOSIA

The 8th annual conference of the Society for Music Education in Ireland / Cumann Ceol Oideachais na hÉireann will be hosted by the Royal Irish Academy of Music from 2-3 November 2018. Proposals from all areas of music education are invited for the following:

Individual papers
Themed panel sessions
Symposia workshops
Poster presentations which will include scheduled question-answer sessions

We look forward to including a broad range of topics relating to music education in the conference. Areas of research include but are not limited to: music learning, music teaching, assessment, community music, formal and informal music making, musical development and creativity.

Duration of Presentations

Individual papers: 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes discussion
Themed panel sessions / Symposia: 60 minutes, followed by discussion
Workshops: 50 minutes, followed by 10 minutes discussion
Practical workshops linking research to practice are especially welcome.

Proposals

All proposals should be submitted using the submission form which is available on the SMEI website. Individual, joint and group submissions are welcome.

Individual papers, posters or workshops: Abstracts should not exceed 300 words.

Themed panel sessions, symposia: There should be an abstract for the full session (maximum 300 words) plus an abstract for each individual speaker (maximum 300 words each).

All should be submitted on the one submission form.

Deadline

All proposals should be submitted using the proposal submission form, a copy of which is available on the SMEI website and returned to [email protected] by 27th August 2018.
